Tasted blind. Was really hard to place, a bit of alcohol hinted at a hot vintage, but the wine is polished and well put together. Notes of black fruit, bacon and sous bois. Very smooth, fine tannins and silky. Nice sweet finish. I’d say this has another 5-8 years to even improve if not hold.

Decanted for 3 hours before tasting. Initial impression is pleasant nose , good initial impact and really rather pleasant. But it feels a bit restrained and lacking in complexity. Decent length. Does not come across as typical Cote Rotie. Overall very pleasant but lacks character!

(GUIGAL COTE ROTIE BRUNE ET BLONDE) #1; COLOR-very dark; NOSE-Gorgeous, beautiful Pink rose; candy-esque (Fun Dip powder); one of the BEST noses in a while; TASTE-Kills it; by far the biggest body of the 3 wines; intense flavor of cherries, cassis & black raspberries; very velvety, explosive & rich; this is what wine is supposed to be - perfect balance of Old & New World; the Syrah is rich, pure & unmanipulated; very true to the Rhone; has the body & explosiveness that you look for in a very serious bottle of wine; green beans bouncing on my palate; little crouton/bready action on finish; you cannot find a silkier wine; just a fantastic CR; can last 7-15 years; great pairing w/ Duck; RP-90/93; GV-93

Elegant, satisfying, savory Cote Rotie. Fabulous with grilled steak/beef. Beautifully integrated fruit, acid, tannin. Subtle earthy aromatics. No rush to drink.. just becoming more fabulous now.

Fully mature and holding. Not super but very pleasant with a simple dinner of home made chicken pot pie!

Decent enough, but rather middling and doesn't really speak of syrah. A flashy but unimpressive wine, like many Guigals in my opinion.
