Stay at home has us looking though the old bottles for things to try...this one almost forgotten. Bought at release, it's made it through 25+ years, 4 moves and 3 children and several life events....still in my cellar. Thought it might be toast, time to try...Broken cork on opening, but clean and good seal. Splash decanted, drank over 90 minutes.
Faded garnet, clear at the rim, coating the glass. Nose was muted, old cherry Palate of dark cherry, dried fruits, herbs. Fruits, linger through the mid palate. Aged and elegant, texture is silky. Tannins faded. Medium weight and finish.
All in, this was really great, better than expected. A sentimental bottle given its tenure in the cellar...:)It's a few years past its prime and was best in the first 45 minutes, fading after that. Still fun to drink

Just a transcendent gorgeous nose. Strong red fruit, a little matured oak, cellar dust, dirt. Taste was moderately matured, but still not fully mature. Nice mineral middle. Just really tasty. For a crap vintage, this was a great bottle of wine.

Still very good with dustiness right away. Still had a deep garnet color with little transparency and some edge bricking. Gave way to tobacco and mostly secondary notes on the nose. Fruit waning but held up well with steak. Fell off some over a few hours but a pretty good showing for 21+ years.

This bottle was past peak but still incredibly interesting and fun. No formal tasting note, but would recommend drinking now
