I like older Zinfandels and believe a well-made one will last 15+ years. One-hour decant through a screened and aerating funnel. There was significant sediment. Wine emitted a fairly strong boysenberry nose during decant. Wine was clear; dark garnet in bowl lightening slightly on the rim with a small clear halo. After resting in the decanter, wine had a nose of black cherries and figs with leaves. In the mouth: a sweet black licorice flavor, milky smooth with a flambeed bing cherry finish (just like the fruit in a cherries jubilee dessert). Wine still had good structure and balance. This wine still has two or three more years of drinking at this plateau. Wonderful match with a molasses and Tabasco-sauced chop at the Butcher's Tale in Minneapolis.

From a magnum for a dinner party. Decanted thru a strainer because I chipped the bottle while removing the cork and “wax.” No detailed notes. A classic mature Zin. Well received by all.

PnP last night so going from memory. Tart, almost sour, at first, but opened up in 10-15 minutes. Not quite opaque ruby color. Medium plus body. Enjoyed through the evening. Still has life so adjusted my drinking window to 2019. Only a magnum left.
