  • Very dark color with minimal lightening around the edges. Amazing explosive bouquet of cedar, minerals, tobacco, leather, graphite, lead pencil. Full body and densely concentrated. Complex with dark fruits, minerals, graphite, leather, tobacco, and cedar. There is good fruit but a lot of tannins. 24 hours later the tannins had dropped some but we're still present. The fruit was still present also. Extremely long finish. Hopefully the remaining cannons will drop off before the fruit does. This is just absolutely delicious. Drink now in the next 3 to 5 years possibly longer. No rush. If you can find it I definitely recommend trying it
48 hours after opening it was still good but tasting like muddy earthy older bordeaux. Still good but not unique 48 hours later

  • Very dark purple color. The bouquet on this wine is absolutely Beyond phenomenal. Classic Pauillac. It smells so good you just want to keep sniffing it before even drinking it. Explosive bouquet of cedar, tobacco, graphite, minerals, pencil shavings. On the pallet it is dense and concentrated and very tanic. Gorgeous flavors of cedar, tobacco, graphite, leather, minerals . There is still fruit to be had and there is some acidity to it. This may develop further in the bottle and it may last longer but the question is will the fruit out live the tannins. My guess is that the tannins will eventually take over and not drop before the fruit does. If this had more fruit to it it would merit a much higher score. This is still one of the best kosher Bordeaux and I've ever had but yes the 2003 is more impressive and the 2004 is more impressive as far as the fruit and balance but it has yet to have the amazing bouquet that we are seeing with this 2002. Hard to tell if this is at Peak or not. That being said if it is on the decline it will be a slow one. Of note 24 hours later with only a glass left in the bottle with the court stuck in it, it was unchanged from the night before and still holding on well. a must try if you can get your hands on some. It is definitely a tour de force.

  • Note - it has a lot of sediment so I would recommend decanting to separate it from its sediment.
Dark color. Sweet dark cherry earthy bouquet. Full bodied. Concentrated, complex. Very earthy with dark fruits, forest, dark cherry. Still with well integrated tannins, some acidity. Long finish. Small amount in the corked bottle was still good 18 hours after opening. Tastes fully mature but might gain more secondary flavors. Has the structure and concentration to age further. Drink now to 2027 possibly. Outstanding wine. Much more accessible and mature than their 2004 tried the next day

  • 93+. Unlike what I have heard, this is still not at peak. Dark color with no lightening. Smoky, cedar, earthy bouquet. Excellent concentration with impressive structure. Delicious flavors of graphite, cedar, leather, tobacco, lead pencil. Great concentration kept in check by loads of tannins. Enjoyable now but still had more to reveal. Try again in 2022. Drink 2022-2032

  • From a well conserved bottle. The wine is alive and doesnt shows sign of advance aging. Fresh nose, deep ruby color, full bodied, tannic and acid. This is a more austere version of pontet canet compared to 2003 and 2004 versions, a pure old world wine. There is not a lot of ripe fruit and it does it for me. Drunk over 4 hours, it showed impecable balance and didnt fail apart/turn to prune juice. Despite the tannins are not so refined, the wine still displays complexity, freshness, concentation and a long finish. Need 3h of air in opened bottle and will age for 6-7 at least maybe more
