I'm with Decanting Fool on this, maybe even more so. My primary impressions were: modern, dumb, disjointed, and hot.
There was a time when I really liked these, so my impressions of the '09 probably reflect my evolving tastes more than changes in the producer. That said, I do think these have gotten more modern/generic over the years.
decanted 30 min (modest granular sediment). dark ruby red to rim; roasted plums & mission figs, black licorice, wild fennel, cured tobacco leaf, white pepper; full-bodied & rich palate presence; ripe & deeply-fruited, kirsch, roasted black plums, anise, full & long on the mildly tannic finish. very enjoyable at this stage, if robust fruit is your preference.
Pleasing notes of black tea and olives are the high points of this middle of the road CdP that's adequate but somehow misses the mark; all the elements are there but in the mouth it comes off as light weight and linear in places where I want it to be full and round. Will improve with some time, but it'll never be a serious contender. Many better choices at this price point.
