Old World Blind Tasting Group $40+ (Bin 75): Darker core with garnet rim; rich nose of black currant, green pepper, licorice, spicy; palate smoother than nose suggests, fresh fruit, seamless texture; best example of this to date, very good.
Was expecting a bit more from traditionally one of my ST favorites. Nose was pretty closed off, with some black licorice and spice begging to come out. Firmer tannins that I remember, but excellent structure and you can see the pedigree. Was hoping for a little more fruit.
Based on what I paid, I was again disappointed. Parker gave this 94pts. He's having a laugh…
Nice bright nose of strawberries and compote. I specifically decanted this to help it to spread it wings. Nice texture in the mouth, again with bright fruits evident. However, there was a tartness that overpowers everything. I don't see cellar time turning this around. And I certainly don't see this as a 90 point wine. Alas, one to avoid.
