  Brought by FC to Lorne. Nose is quite tertiary with dark fruit, tobacco, leather. Medium/full, some richness, soft tannins, dark fruit, cigar box, touch of leather, balanced acidity, seamless good length finish. Very enjoyable.

  De los vinos de la noche. Me encatan los riojas maduros. Gran botella. Profundidad absoluta en nariz, toneladas de complejidad y capas para oler y oler. Notas de eucaristia, mentolados, muy limpio y nada de tufos. En boca está muy pulido y tal vez un poco diluido? Redondo.

  Este excepcional vino se presenta vestido de un color totalmente ladrillo, un poco más oscuro en el centro pero ladrillo al fin y al cabo, hacia los borde es tan claro que puede parecer chocolate con leche.
  El aroma es totalmente terciario, pero intenso vivo y claro, hay chocolate,cuero, madera perfectamente integrada, sin ninguna arista, tierra, ceniza, carbón y finaliza con un vago recuerdo de guindas al licor.
  La boca extremadamente suave es de cuerpo amplio y estructurado, entra y permanece con suavidad extrema y exquisita. Es un paladar enérgico, vigoroso, configurando por una gran acidez, y está claro que carece de todo tipo de fruta, estos grandes vinos viejos no necesitan para nada la fruta de la misma forma que los viejos filósofos no necesitan para nada afirmar su sabiduría, ya la tienen demostrada con creces y este vino demuestra su grandeza no sólo por su longevidad, sino también, carácter, fuerza, integración, exquisitez , en definitiva sublimidad.
  
  Este vino tiene ahora 40 años, le doy otros 20 en los que se mantendrá en sus actuales maravillosas condiciones y luego ya se verá. Se dice que estos Reserva 890 son vinos diseñados para traspasar generaciones y ser dejados en herencia por padres a hijos o nietos y no dudo de que esta afirmación sea cierta. Bendecidos por los dioses sean los que posean tales tesoros ¡¡

  Broken cork followed by a 5-hour decant. Bright semi-transparent lambs' blood colour. No detailed notes because this got appreciated and drank very quickly. Gorgeous and everything it should be... characterised by high piano note acidity and lovely spices. A feminine wine at the moment, which suggests that it has 20+ years to develop further. Not well-matched in between two big and accessible Italians (my fault)...so may not have showed at its best. I will leave the rest of my case undisturbed for 5 years.
