A very earthy and leathery, secondary nose. Broad shouldered and a bit chunky but not graceless body. The palate's fruit has mostly resolved but still a hint of red to go with the secondary tastes. Nice woodsy notes on the finish.

Aged beaujolais is hard to find, but this was a nice example. It doesn't really resemble aged Burgundy either. Still plenty of that raspberry/pomegranate gamay fruit, with a lot of earthy structure that made this nicely complex, really this is about the soil/earth character. Lots of acid, held up well to red sauce Italian. Not the most elegant wine, but quite nice.

Very interesting! The nose is very aged, sort of leathery and metallic, smells much older than 18 years. It tastes much younger though, definitely some fruit, reminds me a bit of a jura red with some age. This was purchased from a private collection from Chambers - apparently there all also some recently released ex-cellar bottles going around.

Beaujolais Cru tasting (Wine-Route, Tel-Aviv): dark opaque brown
quality tertiary leathery nose, somewhat oxidised
lean structured, low fruitiness, mature aged fruity flavours, weak flavours, somewhat over the peak

In the beginning nose of instant glue, a bit dirty. Edgy and acidic.
