Pale garnet in colour. Medium nose with notes of hawthorn, black tea, toast, spices. Medium acidity and medium- acidity. Drank from 375ml. Cork came out one piece. Amazing for a >80 years old wine.

24-Hour Tampa Blitzkrieg; 2/27/2016-2/28/2016: [Magnum] Still deep crimson in the glass. Wafting bouquet of granite, graphite, charcoal, gamey raw meat, blood. Heavy lead. On the nose this tingles the same way that blue cheese does the very first time you experience it. The wine hits your tongue through your nostrils before you even sip on it. Penicillium, farm, barnyard: Extreme funk in the best way you could hope for. Minerals are still showing. Finish is spectacular. If blind would have guessed a legendary but much younger vintage like '82 or maybe '61. This just can't be this good... smells bigger, more expressive, more alive, more animal, than anything smelled in Bordeaux before. Palate is sensational as well but doesn't fully live up to the nose. Wow, what a show.

Purchased at Berns, this wine had a high to mid shoulder fill and an original cork. The wine had a red center and orange/tan rims. The medium+ intensity nose of currants, cherries, clove, mocha, and brown tea was awesome (98 pts?).
In the mouth this wine was ripe and refined. It took quite a while for the lovely rounded tannin to fill the wine out. It kept getting better and better in the glass and I was surprised how solid the wine's core of fruit was.
While it is clearly time to drink this wine, it did take 3 hours in the decanter to show its best. Enjoy!

Most, if not all of the fruit was gone. The wine was holding up otherwise. It was the color of light tawny and possessed a mushroom character rather than fruit. It was intriguing to sip and enjoy. An old wine with a bit left to give.
