  • I don't understand the divergence of opinion. This is a lovely wine and why Oregon often gets the nod for generally producing more Burgundian Pinot Noir than California.

Wonderful red color with a bit bit of bricking at the edge, but clearly within the optimal drinking zone for the next five years. Nose of cherries and raspberries and subtle notes of forest. Flavors mimic the nose (cherries and raspberries mostly) and include a wonderful trifecta of red licorice, plus high notes of watermelon and peony toward the end. Good acidity.

A gift from jeffreylubowski, who loves this wine and this vintage.

PS No cola element, which one associates with Russian River Pinot Noirs, which is neither a positive or a negative. Fortunately, I like both regions.

(Served with chicken and herb-raosted tomatoes in a pan sauce plus mash and white beans on the side.)

  • Last of the '08's. Truly remarkable on night two. This has 10+ years left.

  • Quite nice, though I can see why some people think this wine is overripe; my bottle was nicely balanced but it could tend into the boozy kirsch side of Oregon Pinot if you caught it at the wrong time. Drink now? Hard to tell where this wine will go next.

  • Deep Ruby. Sappy, medium plus intensity nose with ripe cherry and gentle wood spice. On the palate it is dry, medium bodied, with medium to medium plus acidity, round integrated tannin, and a touch of alcohol burn. Flavour attack is cherry and pomegranate, which softens to oak spice at mid-palate, with a medium finish length of smokey wood. This wine is a bit over-powered, such that the initial varietal Pinot aromas are a bit lost on the palate, which brings to mind California Pinot more than Oregon or Burgundy, which is a bit against expectations, and for me, does not justify the price point.

  • I have now tasted ten bottles of this wine and there is a fairly significant bit of bottle variability. I have found the wine to be lush and soft medium-bodied and I have found it to be the "vodka-infused cherry cough syrup" (well, not quite that bad) described by others in these notes. This most recent bottle was merely okay on the first night and had gone around the bend the second, trending more toward the uglier notes about the wine. I have two or three bottles and I doubt they will last longer - I don't think there is any potential for improvement and any flaws will only be enhanced by time.
