  • Surprisingly great for such a modest wine although those looking for the typical big Cabernet will be disappointed. This is a throwback to the wines of yesteryear from Napa. There is deftly ripened purple fruit, haunting complexity of graphite, cedar, tobacco, and an elegant balance throughout. Slightly hollow in the middle but the extended earthy finish makes up for it. The tannins are quite resolved and put this wine is in peak drinking form. I hope wines like this are still made in Napa Valley.

  • Decanted this for about 90 minutes, it was wonderful. Beautiful maroon color, slightly lighter around the rim. Notes of mixed berries and red fruit on the nose, tastes of those same berries, very smooth, almost creamy. Faint taste of bell pepper on the finish, well done wine and paired perfectly with a steak dinner.

  • Served from a double magnum; 45min decant. This bottle has been resting in our cellar for the last 6 or 7 years and I've got to say that age did this very well. This bottle, on this night, was sublime. Classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with crunchy red fruit, a touch of bell pepper and a little bit of leather, tobacco and forest floor beginning to sneak into the mix. Tannins have integrated for the most part and with the lovely bit of acid, I don't see this falling apart anytime in the immediate future but it's also not going to improve. Finish lasts for nearly 30 seconds. That being said, this larger format has probably preserved this wine better than a standard 750mL so I would advise folks to keep that in mind. Regardless, drink now.
