  • A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese with a bit of Cabernet Franc in the mix. 13% alcohol. Tasted alongside most of the Paleo vintages from 2013 to 1993.

Developed, somewhat reddish mahogany to figgy color with a pale bronze rim. Beautifully developed, rich and complex nose with arormas of blackcurrant marmalade, some cooked bell pepper, a little bit of toasty smoke, a hint of cranberry and a touch of wizened sour cherry. The wine is developed and feels somewhat old with its dried fruit character, but it is still very much alive with rich and intense flavors of ripe blackcurrant, some leather, a little bit of sweet, wizened black cherry, a hint of peppery spice and a touch of sour cherry bitterness. Under all that developed, nuanced and somewhat mellowed fruit still lingers a hint of vibrant primary fruit. The wine is well-structured and firm with lovely, high acidity and still moderately firm and somewhat grippy tannins. The finish is long, complex and nicely matured with layered flavors of sour cherries, some leather, a little bit of wizened blackcurrant, a hint of leather and a touch of pipe tobacco.

A beautifully matured, complex, smooth and harmonious vintage of Paleo. Although the wine isn't as intensely structured and grippy as some of the surrounding vintages, the wine seems to be still fully alive with no signs of surrender. Most likely won't develop much further, but will still keep for years. An outstanding Tuscan Bordeaux blend that would be very hard to tell apart from a Bordeaux Cru Classé. Drinks wonderfully on its own, but can be paired with a wide variety of dishes. Drink or keep.

  • 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Sangiovese. Deep red. Evolved, open, wide and warm nose with dominant tobacco, red fruit, as well as meaty and light balsamic aromas. Palate is balanced, fresh, intense, very drinkable, refreshing integrated acidity, sweet red fruit and tobacco, soft tannins, cacao. Finish is spicy and bright and faily long with light grippy tannins Drinking well now, no signs of tiredness. Tasted at the producer
