  • Drinking like a much younger wine with no evident browning around the edges or in the nose. Still a big tasteful gulp of Zinliciuosness, balanced, with spice and brambleberry fruit. Very nice and still has many years ahead of it. Well integrated flavors with a long finish.

I see that other recent reviews have had difficulties with their bottles. Storage, storage, storage! That under the counter, behind the stairs, in a corner of the basement stuff is all well and good for 3-5 years but 10+ is a different kettle of fish. I agree with Ridge - its drinking very nicely right now!

  • I'm with sbfern on this one. Definitely over and done. Ridge claimed it was tasting nicely right now. These notes are for the replacement bottle I got since the first one tasted the same as this one.

  • Drinking well with just a little age, not too hot, but big and lush.

  • If the plum and rhubarb dominated the nose 7 years ago when I first tasted this wine and then shifted to rhubarb, coffee and toffee two years ago, well, this is now back to plum, rhubarb and toffee with a balanced dose of Zin-funk for good measure. The tannins are fully resovled and this takes on a very claret-like body, mouthfeel and style. However, it still lacks balance. The alcoholic heat has dissipated, but still leaves a heaviness on the palate. A smokey aspect weaves around the palate. Nevertheless, its time to drink these up. The fruit won’t last for ever, the tannins are completely integrated and the alcohol will never go away. A blend of 97% Zin with 3% Petite Sirah. Completely zero sediment. 14.9% alc. Opened for as a flavor for the smoking pan for some pork BBQ, but tasted over two days more or less by itself. 08.31.13 and 09.01.13. Recommended.
