Medium ruby color, a bit of bricking at the rims. Nose of sweet plum cake, roasted figs, caramel apple, mixed in with some underbrush, wet leaves, pipe tobacco and vanilla. Tart pomegranate and red currant fruit on the palate, with lots of wet leaves, moss and earth accents. Some pipe tobacco and campfire soot as well. Mocha-toast shows itself but doesn’t overwhelm. The fruit tastes a bit baked on the finish, dried out a bit as well. It came together well in the decanter, smoothed out and became more balance. Not the best aged Napa Cab, but good stuff and interesting.

Drinking well right now and can probably go another few years. Classic napa cab profile of dark cherry, currant, cedar and vanilla. Dry tannins with a long gripping finish.

I would not have believed this. I opened this on Tuesday evening as part of my campaign to drink up bottles well past their windows (2007). It was not good - really tight and on the sour side- I thought it was bad. For whatever reason, I poured another glass on Wednesday evening and found it very good - all of the sour notes were gone and what was left was very good.

Great with roast beef, almost certainly on the down slope (drink up!)
