The cork slid out with a minimum effort, was nicely intact and pretty saturated. Upon opening, the wine was pretty funky (dirty flower water and decay) slowly changing into aromas of ripe red fruits, vanilla, and earth. The aroma was seamless and just absolutely beautiful; so sweet and graceful. The wine had some decent bricking around the edges, medium bodied with flavors of juicy cherries, eucalyptus/mint, with a sort of rustic woodiness and a bit of boozyness. The tannins were well integrated, perhaps a bit too much, the wine kind of felt a bit tired- I'd say past it's prime, but still a nice drink.
Surprisingly youthful, Deep garnet, good fruit, Black pepper, madras spices, licorice, mature cab with a BV character after 30 minutes of air, iron (after lobster Mac), smoke, coffee, waxy, 75 Bordeaux-like nose after 1 hour
This wine still retains a lovely, deep color with no noticable bricking. Nice mature aromas of cigar box, leather, and bing cherries. Unfortunately, on the palate it is now approaching thin and tart. This wine would have been really enjoyable on its 10th birthday, but is now fading.
Flora Springs Trilogy 6 vintages. Was the best of the bunch, reminded me of the 1987 Mondavi Reserve, the nose showed concentrated, almost chocolate fruit, tasted tight, massive fruit that needs 5 years of age to explode in your mouth with rich, cherry fruit, tremendous length on the finish with flavors that should develop complexity. My #1.
