  • Dang. When 22 year old white burgundy has this beautiful golden color, two things can happen. The taster can be overwhelmed with precision, complexity, length and weightlessness or wanting to cry because of oxidation. Fortunately, I am a happy camper this evening. I admit that I don’t drink Montrachet that often so maybe my rating scale needs to be adjusted down, yet I find this pretty special. Honey, wax and white fruit blends beautifully with salt flats and oyster boats. Medium bodied but glides across the palate. So fresh yet so mature. How can this be? I’m not sure but I absolutely love this bottle of wine. After about 60 minutes, this cool apple skin thing emerges on the nose. A perfect welcome to 70 degrees in Baltimore. (96)

  • At peak. Ripe fruit, good energy and length on finish. Showing a little softness though. Think these should be drunk in next few years.

  • Much more mature and evolved than the 05 Butteaux drank next to this. Deep golden color. This started out with lots of botrytis - honeyed/tropical fruits with fairly muted nose. Thick, viscous, waxy midpalate.
With air, this transformed into more exotic fruit notes on the nose - persimmon, lemon cream, lemon merengue, pineapple with a saline streak. Palate became more balanced and structured.
Quite a few folks liked this at the tasting but personally think it would've been much better to drink this 3-5 years ago.
Drink up if you have any.

  • Tropical, mineral, composure reflective of the vintage. Funny how last time also drank this next to 02 Leflaive Chevy. 92-93

  • Kim’s bottle PNP at Left Bank. Wow is this amazing. Another level of the Raveneau experience. Subtle lemon, honey, tropical sea shore and minerals. Perfect texture, rich yet lithe with a saline infused lemon character. Medium finish.
