Last bottle, zalto universal glass. Taken directly from the 14 degrees celsius wine fridge and decanted. Still very dark, but not opaque. Fabulous thick nose of dark cherries, nearly like amaretto cherries. With air and higher temperature it did not really improve. Perhaps it might have done with more time, but the dregs of the decanter were not better after three hours. Oh but the the initial taste and its dark cherries was so wonderful. And still young.

Decanted briefly (less than an hour) and then first tried out of Riedel vinum bordeaux and then Zalto Burgundy. The nose had more depth in the latter but then temperature rose so that the cherry notes were replaced by chocolate notes. Some tannins, high acidity. Excellent wine but not quite singing like the last time, probably because of the temperature. Will last for several more decades.

Decanted shortly before drinking, served rather cool and drunk out of Zalto Universal glasses. Deep coulour. Magnificent nose which is all about cherries with a halo of other aromas, tar, dust, licorice. In the mouth it is authoritative and layered, has a cool core and is quite mineral and also still somewhat tannic. Great showing, great wine.

PnP. Then waited 90 minutes prior to tasting. Nose of black cherry. This is beautiful in color. Pretty dark red. Beautiful in the mouth. Plenty of cherry with vibrant acidity and a lovely sappy note. This is a big gorgeous Il Poggio. Plenty of depth. Very long finish. Wow! Glad I have more. In its drinking window, but will hold for years.
