Deep garnet in colour. Very savoury nose with notes of subtle spices and tobacco. Palate is very approachable, savoury with dark stone fruits and spice. Very elegant wine with a medium to long subtle finish. As per other notes, the fruit is fading so would recommend to drink this within the next year or so. For $20 and plenty of patience, this is bang for your buck Knights Valley cabernet. Well done Beringer!
Tasted double-blind, this deep garnet/amber wine offers aromas of sassafras, chocolate, pipe tobacco and red plum. On the palate, it is full-bodied, has medium acidity, seamless alcohol (13.9%) and melted tannins. The flavors mirror the nose and the middle palate is solid. Concluding tart and with medium length, this 17-year-old Cabernet is still pleasant to drink. That said, it would best be consumed within the next year or two (as the fruit is waning). Drink now-2016.
