So good. Evolved beautifully in the glass over a couple of hours with the most gorgeous scents. Pretty great on the palate too. Made me want to go out and buy a case right away!

Just a beautiful wine. CSJ is certainly the sweet spot in the Rousseau lineup if you can't or won't pay for the Chambertin or Beze. This was clean, rich, pretty, red currant, deep, bold textured, aromatic, delicious wine. None of the roastiness of the vintage. This will undoubtedly get even better.

The most unique thing about these Rousseau’s I have been drinking lately, mostly clos st Jacque 2006, 2009, 2013, 2016, is that they have a metamorphosis in the glass over a couple of hours. 2009 tonight. First smell and taste it was a little tight, weak, and the color had a light rust tinged hue at the edge. Literally after hour the wine is pure silk; and a deeper shade of garnet with less rust edge. The chrysalis! Aromas of savory spice box coupled with succulent cherry and black raspberry fruit. Rose petals and more fruit on the palate. Medium bodied, easy tannin, , and medium acid. Lingering finish like a lover you don’t want to leave. Highly recommended.
09|07|06|02|01|96|90 vertical. Certainly the vintage with the most upside potential tonight. This really has it all -- concentrated and pure fruit, loads of meat and spice, proportional balance despite the ripe fruit. But shy of maturity by 5-10 years. Upside from here.

Rousseau Clos St Jacques and Corton-Charlemagne Dinner (Sepia - Chicago IL): In vertical. Not quite ready by at least 5 years, so so much beauty here already with very good balance. Ripe, powerful black fruit array with great density.
