  • Paleo is a wine to be enjoyed both young and old. It ages wonderfully, as only Franc is able to.
This 2005 was kind of p&p, only decanted for 30 min (I use a thin decanter).
Then it opened up in while swirling the glasses for the next hour and a half.
Nice, very nice. A wine of great balance. Starting to be in its sweet spot now I believe it will age gracefully another 10-15+ years.
Beautiful touch of iodine and Mediterranean herbs gives the lift to the primary and secondary bouquet.
After the nice capsicum gives space to the tertiary notes the wine gets interestingly deep and complex. Where leather leads trhu.
One spare glass for the next day (stored cold overnight) brought the wine to 95 pts.
Medium to long finsh. Dusty tannins.

  • Really lovely and still very much alive. Sweet cherries, underbrush, balsam. Earthy tobacco. Fleshy and low in acid. So poised and elegant in the mouth, with a long, cocoa-dusted finish. no hard edges.

  • Pretty much 100% Cab Franc. Not too shabby for a Friday afternoon! This wine is quite earthy. And by 'quite earthy' I mean a ton of earthiness. Lots of iodine, grilled meat, black pepper on the finish. Based on how this one developed, which shed some of that earthy baby fat and gained a little more dark black fruit, tar, and espresso bean, I think this wine may sort of be approaching a peak. The charred red campfire roasted fruit was a welcome note. In a sea of mostly Napa Valley wines, this one definitely stood out and certainly not in a bad way. There was a sweet and savory Cajun nut combination on the table, and I remembered thinking that this wine went oddly well with that mixture. I think this one probably has another 5 years or so, but only for those who appreciate the more earthy and nitrogenous side. Really tended to more of the medium bodied side of things and there's certainly nothing wrong with that

  • Strepitoso mix di finezza elegante, potenza e lunghezza. Perfettamente maturo, scuro lucido, mora, mirtillo e piccoli frutti neri, sottobosco costiero, menta e resina di pino, cuoio e fave di cacao. Fluisce senza sforzo e senza asperità, complesso e strutturato. Tannino integrato, setoso e fitto; bella tensione e notevole lunghezza. Magnifica bottiglia da un annata non memorabile. Maturo senza decadenza: offrirà ancora molto per diversi anni a venire.
