Brought by a friend to dinner after a couple hours of air. Perfect with steaks, mushrooms and a truffle cream sauce. Typical of late in the Justin Meyer era (I know he wasn’t technically winemaker after 1994) Silver oak Cabs. Somewhat extracted and heavily oaked but still quite balanced, bright and energetic while having a richness and depth of flavor and texture. Nice finish. Probably at/near peak.

Tasted at a friend’s house with grilled steak. Very nice depth and reasonably complex. Very typical pre-2000 Silver Oak Alexander. Blackberry, vanilla, chocolate, cedar, hints of mint and some floral notes. Very smooth. Pretty well balanced, not as ripe and extracted as more recent vintages.

Probably near the end of its prime. Still a good balance with hints of raspberry. Not long on the finish. But still a very enjoyable wine. But drink now if you have any.
