This was solid. Decanted for 1 hour. Dark purple and nose is wonderful with expressive fruits, oak, and graphite. Tannins are resolved, but still slightly acidic that prevents it from reaching complete harmony. I thought the Montrose 2005 was more balanced, but also measurably less expressive.

Nose: blackcurrant, hints of nail polish, tobacco leaves Notes: the 2005 vintage has always been and probably will continue to be (at least for another decade) mysterious, full, well structured and unready. Very jam like and tannic still, this wine is not very enjoyable right now. Personally I have never been a fan of Pontet Canet and given this great vintage I am still unable to spot anything interesting or promising at this very moment, I think this may require another 10 years to develop and mature so I would advise owner of this bottle to lay it down and forget about it for a while. Drink: 2034+ Rating: 87
The wine kicks off with its cherry, leaf, and floral perfume before you dig into a big juicy mouthful of black, and red fruits, spice, cedar, and tobacco. The wine borders the corners of robust and regal in style. 1 hour of decanting is all that's needed. Drink from 2024-2045.

Decanted for ~3 hours; absolutely dead on opening.
Well reviewed recently by others - not quite complex enough and a little too jammy to score higher, but still a very nice wine.
