I'm kind of amazed at how good this wine still is. Hard to believe this is a 13 year old CA syrah. Pours a youthful opaque purple with explosive aromas of game, black pepper, black olive and blackberry. Smokey and seductive, with black fruit flavors and a floral lift, nice acidity, and silky tannins. Did I mention "black"? Somewhere between Aussie and Northern Rhone in style. Bigger than I usually enjoy them, but damn, Adam and Dianna made some great syrah back in the day.

This is shockingly good for a wine I paid $7 for on Lot18. I have also not taken particularly good care of this wine at times, as it spent a few years in a NYC closet. This has a Cote Rotie light quality to it, with some garrigue, black olive, and a lovely floral lift. I can’t believe how well this is drinking.

Hint of smoke on the nose and color is very deep and rich. In the mouth a nice pepper spice emerges and transforms to red fruit flavors. Dried cherry, blackberry and cranberry stood out.

Has a good funky note on opening the bottle, with some dark fruit behind that. There's a little sharpness to the flavor, and as it opens up some bright red fruit comes out. Tannins start to come out a little, but this is still light on the tannins.

Very deep color, almost black. Slightly dry mouthfeel, and slightly tart. Decant to soften.
