Double decanted, this is a gift from my father's neglected basement collection, rest his soul. The cork fragmented on removal, wine has a brownish red tinge, clear oxidation. This is a wine past its design life. An old syrah, in its final stages, still some remnants of fleshy fruit in the nose, and mid palate, but it tastes over ripe and slightly over the hill. Not bad enough to be cooking wine, but not really good either. Still perfectly servicable wine if the somewhat stewed fruit in the mid palate does not turn you off. Mom thought this was not to her taste, again not a bad wine, but just past its prime and in decline. Glad I tried it, but if you have any in your cellar you better drink it now.

Nose gives impression of wood smoke, sweet ripe plums with also an herbal component. Mouth is rich, and moves more in the direction of figs. Finish has sweet tannins but with still some grip, and a continuation of figs, and maybe also something savory like cured meats. Exceeded my (somewhat initially low) expectations.

Still drinking well. Medium to full-bodied. Dark cherry and plum with raspberry highlights along with herbal and spice notes. A bit of tannic bite still left but resolves quickly suggesting peak is here or slightly past. Another nice Spanish surprise.

Horribly corked. A disgusting mess.

Disappointing. I liked the other 2 bottles but this one had a leaky cork and it tasted like it.
