  Second Sunday Group: 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet (Neil's): Cherry and dark fruit notes. On the riper side of the spectrum. Flavors of red plum, cherry and spice. Subtle iron note with air. Good.

  One of those wines where the nose if far superior to the palate. All you would want in a serious burg - red cherry fruit still with some secondary spice and campher, some mushrooms etc,. The palate however was quite flat and simple and lacked drive and complexity. Shortish and clipped finish. Not really up to grand cru level.

  Not really typical - a bit too forceful/extracted for a '98 Grand Cru. Maybe a little brett - lots of fruit but not the type of laying one should get in a 14 year old Grand Cru from a decent vintage.

  Fro whatever reason, not as enjoyable as the previous bottle. My thoughts on this one are more JAKurek's -- missing the wow factor. May be just bottle variation. Who knows? This was my last. Another of life's mysteries.
