Deep gold. Stunning floral note. Lychee. Voluptuous feel in the mouth. Medium/low acidity but very well balanced. Long finish. I should’ve bought a case of this beauty. Served with asparagus, Virginia ham and quail egg; crepe with chives and mushroom duxelle. An excellent match. First bottle tasted in 2012. This bottle is as good.

So, according to CT this should have been dead on arrival. But no, it’s very much alive and quite nice, thank you. Yes, it does have that Old Testament-style that’s true to Trimbach, but it suits me better with gewurz than with Riesling. Nice fruit, still fresh and sweet, obviously low on acidity, but high on charm and perfume of lychée and strawberries. Sweetness is there, but mellowed after all these years. Pleasant surprise, while still reminding me why I don’t buy any Gewurztraminer or Trimbach these days.

Pop and pour and follow for 2+ hours. Honey and lychees and spice. Incredible intense nose and matching palate. The acidity is a bit light and would be better with more for balance, but that would force an "outstanding" 95+ situation. Finish is very long. Interesting that this is a bit reminiscent of an Ygrec mixed with a Gewurtz. I can't pinpoint what makes it so, but it's there. Finish is very long.

Consistent with my previous notes, lots of tropical fruit, honey, and citrus, so it is a hint sweet but well balanced. Unfortunately, in this bottle some oxidation is showing through as bitter almonds or burnt caramel. Damage more pronounced on day 2, score is from day 1.

(TRIMBACH Gewurztraminer RIBEAUPIERRE) #3; VaynerPAZZZ (on QPR); COLOR-medium golden; NOSE-very chalky; little underlying Pineapple, spicy, unfocused, wet rock, pretty tight; TASTE-this is gorgeous, this is text book, getting a little leachy fruit, beautiful golden Pear on the mid-palate; really rounded by very focused spiciness, very rounded, pepper leaves, very structured, great balance, weakest bouquet and the least explosive of the 3 wines, but the most focused & well rounded; very polished & well-made, but the fruit is slightly lacking; PR-92; GV-91
