Euming's 40th Birthday (Kingyo, Telok Ayer): Quite a bit simpler and lighter than the 2010 JM Millot Echezeaux served alongside, which was to be expected, but the comparison actually served this humbler wine well - while no Grand Cru, it was not completely overwhlemed by the much more expensive wine either. The nose was a lot more expressive here, with sweet notes of cherries and raspberries, a touch of earth, and then just a little hint of green herbs and stems, all wreathed in a nicely floral perfume. It was very charming on the palate too - light and bright, with high-toned notes of sour cherries and darker berries dancing on a rivulet of fresh acidity and fine grippy tannins. On the simpler side, and quite light in the mouth, but this was nicely balanced and structured. Decent finish too, ending with a little bit of peppery spice, and a dose of earth and mineral.

Light garnet/ruby color. Nose offers up small red fruits. Feminine wine very chambollish in style. Great balance of sweet fruit, silky tannins and good acidity. Much improved with time in cellar.

OK, simple, fruity, short finish, harsh acid. way overpriced here in Australia. An equivalent Victorian Pinot at the price I paid for this would be orders of magnitude better. May get better in time.

Getting better. Wild strawberrys on the palate but started shutting down quickly. Leave for 5 years

Very good CNV. Nice fruit with good tannin/acid balance.
