CdB BoG; 1/25/2024-1/27/2024 (Denver): Lost my notes but was surprised by the drinkability of this. I usually shy away from 2011 but this was drinking well. Smooth and velvety, very open. Elegance but substance. Not as complex as the trio of ‘96 wines that accompanied, but a really good wine nonetheless

Sixth bottle from an eight bottle (part) lot purchased at auction in 2019. The previous bottles from this case were all pretty light and transparent, this bottle seems different. The basic character is there, with the minerally freshness and the floral and leafy notes from the Cabernet Franc, but it comes across as fuller and rounder, and with riper fruit with a darker pitch. Quite puzzling - the difference is marked, but I don't think that there is an identifiable fault to this bottle.

Quite closed straight out the bottle with pencil lead and dark fruit almost like prune. Then after a couple of hours it starts to open up and you get more red fruit, cassis and cherry with smooth tannins. Nice easy drinking claret.

Dense dark garnet purple colored, medium bodied, floral notes with black berry fruits with notes of anise, black tea, earth and leather with supple tannins and well behaved acidity on the finish.
