Fresh, sassy delicious bourgogne. Sometimes you can tell from the bright color on first pour that the wine is alive. That was the case here. Nose pops right out at you: bright red berries, appealing light earth/forest tones. Balanced and harmonious on the palate with just the right light touch you'd expect from a more elegantly styled bourgogne. First bottle from this producer: look forward to exploring his lineup of Marsannays.

This is simply wonderful, with a refined nose of lean purple fruit, stone, and iodine. Similar taut purple berries dominate the palate. The midpalate is long and lean, and while the finish is a touch acidic, this is chiseled, refined, and balanced. No way this is bourgogne if I had this blind. This will age and surprise. I'll bury a few bottles in the cellar, and in 3-5 years, this will make for a nice surprise I am certain.
