  • Decanted for ~30 min. Beautiful color. Reticent aromas of seamless cherries, cassis, strawberries, leather, cedar and earth. An elegant palate follows aromas with an added minty component. Seeamlessly woven but still somehow feels reticent and hidden and never really showed itself. Nice acidity livens the wine. Finish is really nice, long and elegant. Tannins had completely melted away. I think this was definitely in the twilight of the wine.

  • 3 hr decant. Nice smooth, and not ruined.

  • I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Beautiful garnet color, with no signs of bricking. Lovely black pepper notes and a good core of fruit in the mid-palate, as well as some complexity from aging. Still has some decent structure to it.

  • I was hesitant to open tihs one based on the all-over-the-board reviews I read here, but I am glad I did. Perhaps I was just lucky in that this bottle was better stored in its life prior to me than what others benefited from, but we had this bottle with a filet mignon tonight and I thought it was in fabulous shape and was a fantastic bottle of wine. Very much in line with the quality I have come to expect from Burgess over the years. Tannins were silky smooth but quite honestly, I could have waited another few years and been fine on this one. As I type this, it has been in the decanter for a little short of three hours, and it is showing its best stuff now. Nice, peppery spices... aromatic and a nice, long finish. Glad I bought this one.

  • Crimson in color. Basically decanted and poured into glass. Beautiful aromas of dark cherries, plums, cassis, earth, and a little minty component at the end. Palate bears well integrated and smooth flavors of mint herbs, earthy forest floor, tobacco, leather, ?graphite transitioning to beautiful plums and dark cherries. Good acid levels keep this medium bodied wine lively and light-stepped in the mouth. Finishes with a surprisingly decent tannic grip as the fruit slowly fades away on the long finish. A beautifully good wine.
