Book Club (Patty's Place): Blind. Guessed Chenin, yeah! But definitely no idea it's a California. Big nose, petrol reduction, burnt rubber. Palate is concentrated green apple, lemon, and lime. Long gripping acid driven finish. Very good.

Served blind, I had some thinking this was a leaner Chard----ehh, wrong. It did for me express some Chard notes, like a lemon peel quality, a green tropical fruit note yet it also retains the stone fruit nuances that I find in Chenin. This is really low on the booze scale, I think around 12% or less. Refreshing and lots of acidity, really good and less than 20 bucks, too.

1 glass consumed over ~1 hour, warming from fridge temp to room temp. A bit milder than I expected out of the gate, some due to temperature I'm sure, but it never really opened up as I thought it might. Still, this was a good bottle, mostly showing semi-tart citrus and white/green floral notes on a slightly creamy body. I thought I detected just a little hint of wood, and from Roark's website, it does look like there was some proportion of neutral oak used; it's not intrusive, though, and I expect it to integrate. Seems a little reserved at this point, but I do like it.
