Pessac Leognan seems to be the appellation that often does really well in mediocre vintages. 1997 was categorized as an early drinker, and it was, due to its lighter body and softer tannins. 25 years later we still have an amazing wine at hand still in the drinking window. Outstanding nose, jumps from the glass with all the Bordeaux forest floor, dark fruit, oak spice and farmyard notes. Elegant palate with melted tannins. One of these, "that's why we drink Bordeaux bottles".

Courtesy of tlv, decanted off its sediment. Garnet core with some light bricking. Earthy brett notes with plenty of red fruit as well. Integrated tannin. Red fruit and earthy tones on the palate with a nice finish. Very nice; drink now.

This was very charming - sweet bouquet and lovely sweetness on the palate. Light-bodied, so not much in terms of power but plenty of charm. Showing well. Elegant - good by itself vs. with food.

Opened at Anvil. I knew I was having lamb tonight and brought this for just that reason. This was in a great place for me and paired beautifully with the lamb. Notes of dark fruit and game.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind: Tasted blind. Good power, nicely fresh, but just modest nuance. Good performance for the vintage. Served alongside the wonderful 1982.
