  • Still deep ruby after 22 years although lots of sediment and needed filtering. Nice pleasing if not simple barolo, if you have this I would drink up soon, although maybe there's another 5 years in this if stored well.

  • My goodness, was this a pleasant surprise. Given the vintage I expected this to be fairly evolved, but both structure and fruit were still vibrant, though I wouldn't call this wine youthful either. It was showing the full panoply of Barolo flavors, including cherry, tar, roses, and herbs, with good depth of flavor and length on the palate. If you wanted to, you could probably leave this alone for five more years. This must have been a monster in its youth.

  • An Evening in Piemonte: Westchester Wine School: Drank at WWS Piedmonte tasting. Fairly dark (for a barolo) crimson color, appearing much more youthful than expected. Slight bricking at the edges. On the nose, floral, some leather, some tobacco. Very pleasant. On the palate, lots of eucalyptus or menthol, leather, tobacco and tar. Still plenty of fruit here--cherries & raspberries, along with somewhat resolved soft tannins. Subtle, very pretty, well-balanced & complex pour & definitely the WOTN. The superb condition of this wine greatly exceeded my expectations & all very much enjoyed it. Wonderful balance between the earthy & still copious fruit level here. Great bottle! Decant in the future before pouring.

  • Decanted 1 hr. Some sediment. Nice fruit on the nose. I'd recommend drinking now or over next 2 years or so, as starting to fade. Simple but a relatively pleasing offering.

  • still powerful flavors of licorice and cherry with herbal notes. probably lat peak now. Paired well with Osso Buco and risotto Milanese.
