Signs of age on the rim. Nose starts with red fruit and cumin (other spices are available…). Earth, decay, a tickle of pepper and some green wood. It’s quite pronounced and warming. Really inviting. Mouth has a bright, zippy entry. Fruit indistinct. Perhaps cranberry or red cherry. Exotic, alluring mid palate. Oh my gosh, this is turning sexy. Rich, mouth coating, fine but persistent tannins. Good acidity. Weighty, long lasting. Good. No, very good.

This was very good and seemed fairly mature to me. The nose showed lovely dark fruits, spices, some sous bois and dried floral notes, hints of sanguine. The palate was rich and still big, but well balanced. Definitely some wood showing. Not the greatest Chambertin ever, but very good and drinking well now. Should drink well easily for another 5-8 years.

Came after the Chanson Fèves 2009 and wasn’t as bright and open. A bit dark but improved with time. Quite strong and closed still. Needs more time.
