  • I found this one in the back of my cellar. Clearly forgotten after many years, I vaguely remembered its brothers and sisters that I consumed many years ago. I remember they made me happy. After finding this lost one so long after it's prime, naturally, the only thing to do was to open it for a new years eve dinner! Since my expectations were so low I did have a few backups in mind. However this little Pinot that could delivered the goods. On opening it showed some fierce tannins which quickly gave way some nice notes of leather, new earth and sour cherry. After decanting for an hour or so the tannins turned into a soft, lush and velvety mouthful of Pinot Noir. If it's possible for sour cherry, wood, earth and leather to live in one glass they found a home here. The finish was long and tart (more sour cherries) with a hint of tobacco. A wine with zero expectations turned in a stellar performance and made welcoming in 2009 a hopeful and tasty experience. Lets all hope this little Pinot Noir is a harbinger for what is to come in 2009. It was a wonderful end to 2008.
