  • How does a 20 year old Napa Merlot taste? Found this buried in the cellar a few weeks ago. Someone had wanted to open a few weeks ago at a dinner party toward the end of the night. I caught them after the foil was off but the cork still in the bottle. When I opened tonight the cork was a wreck. So had to filter it, Expectations were low. First taste - not bad. Follow up was, wow this like a nice aged wine from Pomerol. It still actually has some fruit left. I was not ready to like this but it surprised me. Well done. Given the 13.5% alcohol, that explains the aging ability. Wish Napa would go back there. Now it is tough to fine under 14.5. Well done JPV.
