Piemonte: Back to the truffling!; 11/24/2022-12/3/2022 (Wineries and various restaurants): While the 1961 did not have a pop and was truly a still wine from France this still had all of the bubbles. Drinking incredibly well. Good aged character (although coming on the heels of the other it tasted quite young). Great pairing with an artichoke tart. Very enjoyable.

(Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut La Grande Dame) Light yellow color with steady stream of tiny bubbles; nutty, yeasty, tart baked lemon, hazelnut nose; mature, yeasty, tart lemon, baked lemon, mineral palate; with medium acidity; long finish
(Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut La Grande Dame) Light golden yellow color; yeasty, apple, baked apple, pain grille, tart citrus nose; tart citrus, maturing, autolysis palate with tangy acidity; medium-plus finish
(Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut La Grande Dame) From magnum - lemon, almond, cream nose; creamy textured, tart lemon, mineral, baked lemon, nutmeg palate with medium acidity that's surprisingly flat compared to when we've had it before; medium-plus finish (the cork lacked the usual flared bottom of a Champagne cork, and was stamped 1985 instead of 1988 -- probable fake?)
(Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut La Grande Dame) Sweet, malty, brown sugar and Fig Newton nose; lovely palate of citrus and tangerine with good acidity; medium-plus finish

Beautiful medium gold in the glass. Carbonation has faded to light, but is still there with sparsely separated bubbles.
Intense aromas still abound: buttered brioche, toast, baked Meyer lemon, toffee, caramel and smoke.
Flavors, thankfully, follow the nose and leave you with a long, lingering toffee and toasted brioche finish.
Mouthfeel is dry, with medium body and still holding with medium plus acidity. Drinking wonderfully in 2023.

About 5 years late if I had to guess. Opened sufficiently after about 45 minutes. Brown and nutty. We finished the bottle.

Really fresh with bubbles but super drying. Very strange didn't have the age I expected.
