Firstly I would like to say it was an absolute priviledge to taste (so far my only Romanee-Conti experience) such a great vineyard. However the wine was quite green, stalky and lean. Quite tannic without too much generosity through the middle and was hard work. I gave it every chance but just couldn't see the brilliance that I imagined this wine would display. As time passed it seemed to get tougher. Was it too young? I suspect not. Tasted in a very strong line up of great Burgundies over lunch and was voted unanimously the worst wine of the day. I'm sure there are other great bottles from other vintages but for me this was disappointing.
