Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: Pre X-Mas tasting (Private Location): Glass: Zalto Universal Tasted double blind. Clear, deep golden color. Ripe nose with some yellow stone fruit, lactic notes, fresh butter. On the palate round, balanced, lots of yellow stone fruit, chalky mineral notes, some botrytis, lacks tension on the mid palate, medium fine length. Drink now. 91

Fresh lemon hits you first but the mineral and smooth base balances nicely. Theres a green apple presence here with some honey but not too sweet. Maintains its mineral structure - just a lovely Riesling and still drinking wonderfully.

Lemon over lime backed by honey initially on the nose. Time brings a little forest floor, mushroom, tiny smidge of apricot. In the mouth juicy acidity and glycerol fatness, a little closed and tight on the back palate but opens with time to show lemon curd, honey, harmonious, rather lovely.

Enjoyed alongside a 2009 Auslese to show the striking differences of acidity and sweetness. This was my final bottle of 2005 CFE, last had a bottle about 5 yrs ago. It was electric, mineral and flinty on the palate, with racy acids and a bone-dry finish. Lovely, and firing on all cylinders.
