Medium dark red with a 5mm bricked edge. PNP, split bottle over 3 hours plus. Dried leaves, oregano, sous bois, subtle tobacco and red cherry at the outset on the nose. The palate showed dried cherry, white pepper, red currants, tobacco spice and underbrush with dusty tannins. My initial impression was that this had crested and the fruit was now fading. This made an about face after around 40 minutes to where the fruit really came out and became much more vivid, deep, and layered. The fruit takes on a mix of dark fruit, black raspberry, black cherry, and boysenberry with a swett vanillin essence in the background. As the fruit emerges this takes on weight and becomes medium full bodied. The spice, earthiness and tobacco reamins and is now very much enhanced by the fruit profile. While I enjoyed this at first, I appreciated the transformation over time. If you are a little underwhelmed to start, give this a chance to see where it can go.

Pop and pour, drank half the bottle over 2 hours. The fruit has faded a bit, and there is a lot of structure left. If a pinot can be full-bodied, this is it. There are secondary flavors of tobacco and leather, lots of interest and intensity. The finish is long. Just a touch over the hill compared to bottles a few years ago, but it still has a lot going for it. I'll drink my last bottle in a year.

Served with beef bourguignon Popped and poured 15 minutes in glass before tasting
Nose is outstanding, floral, heavy roses, cinnamon (?) notes, really quite nice Palate is silky smooth, dense but light as a feather, really quite a beautiful wine. If I’m being critical it has a slight heaviness on the finish but that is being too critical. I enjoyed it and would buy again.

Opened up after 40 min of decanting. Still together, drinkable and fairly fresh, but it is past peak. Did not have the acidity to keep it fully alive.
