8th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, as December 22's bottle with power, intensity and complexity of top vintage, maybe slightly less fresh hence marginal downgrade. F+ (18).

Rich mouth but with just the right amount of freshness on salted butter caramel, apricot and saffron. Juice at maturity which already seems to give its maximum on a good balance. Honeyed finish on the marmalade with a good length.
A pleasant Sauternes.

Vertical at Château de Rayne-Vigneau (sur place): Seville oranges, musty old book, and after a bit of time some umami notes. Serious midpalate density which is fresher than the nose where there are juicy oranges and not yet tertiary.*

Reticent nose with some interest via notes of dried apricot, golden currant, saffron, mushroom and hay. Still sweet on the palate which has enough acidity to keep it fresh. Long finish which brings marmalade and honeycomb. Decent but lacking some intensity. Drink now.
WSET notes:
Deep amber.
Medium intensity on the nose with dried apricot, golden currant, saffron, hay, nuts, and mushroom. Fully developed.
Medium plus intensity and sweet on the palate with some honeycomb and marmalade coming through. Medium plus acidity, medium alcohol, full body, low tannins, long finish.
Drink now. Not suitable for aging or further aging.

(Château de Rayne-Vigneau) Light medium golden yellow color; tart apricot, botrytis, creme brulee nose; juicy, creamy textured, baked pear, tart apricot palate; long finish

Still very enjoyable…..despite being 22 years old.
Accompanied a lovely Tiramisu beautifully.
