Grand Cru White Burgundy Fest: Not very sweet. Reminded me a bit of the 2005 DRC Monty from the night before, lol. Good, but not great, but did pair nicely with the sweetness of the Basque Cheesecake. Some actually poured the wine onto the dessert.

Superb. Half bottle opened and served. Would have done even better with some more time but it was superb as it was. Deep golden colour and stunning range of aromas apricots. Wish it had been a full bottle!

18k gold color. Sweet apricots and oranges on the nose . Thick, Unctuous texture with sweet satsumas and tons of apricots and Indian spices. Really excellent.

Sauternes Chinese Banquet Dinner: This too had been opened 24 hours in advance. Good yellow color. Lightest wine served so far. Not terribly sweet. Lower key and quite elegant but not nearly as impressive or as round and seamless as the titanic 2009. Fine food wine and it reminded me of other less sweet vintages of d'Yquem such as 1980.

All Sauternes, All Night (R & G Lounge, SF): One of my wines of the night, alongside the '86 Climens and '89 Yquem. Although not as powerful or long as the '09 Yquem, the '04 shows an swoonworthy elegance, like a kiss from a fairy. Lightness and higher in acid, with light bitter orange marmalade, jasmine, and light botrytis spice. Winsome combination of apricot, orange and barley sugar on the finish. Great for drinking now, and probably a 40-50 year wine, whereas the '09 is clearly a 100 year wine.
