  • Dark red with bricking. Dark & ripe cooked berry fruit, licorice, incense all vie for attention. The palate is rich, ample and ripe with sweet cooked dark berries, decent acidity and a very long fruit and floral tinged finish. A bit too much of everything, best as an after dinner drink.

  • actually drinkable now! as per previous notes, in it's youth this was all aggressive over-ripe shiraz fruit with a high alcohol content - it's smoothed out now and the mature syrah flavors are much more enjoyable now - alcohol is still high, but not as overwhelming as earlier - I would never describe this wine as elegant, but it is quite enjoyable with food (grilled hanger steaks)

  • Deep purple. Quite closed on the nose, cassis and vanilla, slightly acetate.
Palette of sweet fruits, ripe strawberry and plum. This is very jammy but not muddled. Tannins are grippy and occasionally cloying - this is definitely a food wine, but a very polished one. Warm secondaries of caramel, cardamom, cinnamon. Long alcohol-fired finish. I was recommended this against “Dead Arm Shiraz” of the same vintage because it was a more modern, rounder style, but for me the alcohol still overpowers, leaving it lacking some degree of elegance for the price.

  • Pours brick red in the glass. Wonderfully complex nose of iodine, coffee, and tart cherry with hints of wild game meat, peat, and forest floor. Candied cherries dominate the palate as subtle notes of raisin and stewed tomatoes round out this high octane, yet well balanced wine. 45 seconds on the pleasing finish and an excellent example of a well aged Aussie.

  • This is all over the place, but not settled and not pleasant. It has an obvious alcohol medicine-like shock that just isn't pleasant.
