Wow. A Blast from the past. Remember when this was your Tuesday and Wednesday night go to drink while you saved your expensive wines for the weekends? At $12.99 to $14.99 it was a steal for a couple with thin wallets.
And how well its aged. Balanced, fresh, full of life and zip. Wonderful mature, subtle, cali zin at its finest. Dark fruit, spicy nose, great mouth feel, long finish! It may never rise to the exalted heights of some grapes but this is about as good as it gets and its good any where close to this price point! An American original. Well done and thank you very much. And its only 50% Zin with the rest coming from Petite Sirah, Carignane, Mourvedre and Grenache.
The back label says drink by 2008 but for those of you who know Ridge, add another decade and sit back and enjoy. While fully mature, it doesn't appear to be going anywhere soon so a few more years won't hurt this stuff even though its so yummy now, why would you want to wait??

Top Rhones Whites (tasted blind) (Tom's house in Palo Alto, California): Fairly dark red color. Nose was a little bit hot at first, but improved with time in the glass (B+ to B++). Very good palate with fully resolved tannins (B+). Tasted blind and correctly guessed as a 10+ California Zin. Solid 89 pts.
