Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: Ripe wines (Private Location): Dried red berries and also a bit of black fruit mixed with grilled tomato, blood, iron, a touch of oak, leather, tobacco and a hint of mushroom. In the beginning underlaid with a wonderful touch of sweetness, which disappeared after twenty minutes in the glass. In the beginning I loved the nose but in my very personal opinion the wine kind of lost his appeal over the evening. On the palate medium bodied (what a joy!) with a extremely vital acidity structure which I absolutely adore. Slightly green on the mid palate. Good length with a iron driven finish.

Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: Hotchpotch of ripe wines: Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah Perfect fill-level and cork. Popped and poured, not decanted, drunk over two days. Hazy, medium garnet color. Clean, medium+, fully developed nose with lots of blood, meat, spices, some oak, leather, tobacco and fine oak. Very complex and multi-layered. That is my perfume! Dry, medium+/high acidity, perfectly integrated. Medium+ tannin, that is on day one fine and mellow, but also a bit green. On day two it is harsh and really green. On the palate lots of red fruit, pepper, dark chocolate, tobacco, some green notes. Beautiful structure from the perfect oak, round and with a long finish. Wonderful experience and I can’t comprehend the 76 points from the advocate… On day one somewhere around 92-93 biased points for me, on day two around 84-86.

Drank at the Hong Kong Club. I love finding an example of a wine that delivers in a supposedly 'off' vintage and this wine is indeed one. Beautifully mature Syrah with soft tannins and more than sufficient structure to last the night in the glass.

Initially a flat nose giving off a bit of dried cranberry, rust, and not much else. Tart and sharp raspberry and blueberry on the palate with more acid than expected. Changed and improved considerably over 45 minutes. Filled out a little better, but not overwhelmingly so. Rusty, iron, tertiary.

Fading and subtle, but clearly and pleasantly old Landonne.
