Deep GC fruit, earthy notes, resolved fruit, still lots of acid, woody smoke, very Morey. This is very young, and with time turned into a beast of amazing structure. The strong mid-palate supports well of the sweetness and pinned tannin, with a deep long spicy finish. Impressive. 94-95

Eu Ming's Birthday: Decent without blowing one’s socks off. The nose was classic Lambrays, with blue fruited aromas and brighter cherry shades infused with notes of earth and herb. The palate had some of the astringent, firmly structured feel of a 1995, but also showed a nice clarity to its dark cherry and plum fruit. The midpalate and finish were charming too, with bits of Morey spice mingling amidst sour plum notes. Decently good, but time to drink.

Clos de Lambrays Vertical 1989-2015; 1/1/2017-9/22/2019: During a Clos des Lambrays tasting. From Magnum. This wine also showed well. Excellent tertiary notes with undergrowth, autumn leaves, barnyard. Lots of fruit left on the palate still. Ready now.

(Lambrays Clos des Lambrays) There's a lovely width of powdery red cherry fruit and faint almond - it smells wonderful. Likewise in the mouth, a width of lovely flavours. The tannin certainly needs another 3-5 years, also the acidity has some lift. Interesting but understated length. Far from perfect but wonderful personality.

Pnp from Magnum 1,5l: good wine, already developed, earthy Morey notes, but clearly not on grand cru level.
