Mid golden-bronze in colour; the nose shows gooseberry, granadilla and some tropical fruits. Pronounced in that classic NZ vein, the wine is bright despite having some years on it. The wine seems a little 1-dimensional but is tidy with a brisk, almost razor-sharp acidity, power and a herbal - honey note on the back palate. Edgy textured towards the medium-long finish.

Really enjoyed this wine. Drank informally with friends and paired with Camembert cheese. Hint of jalapeno, green grapes, grapefruit. Delicious and unique New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc!

Enjoyable, but not quite sure 12 years ageing has any added value for this (or any) Marlborough SB. Hint of asparagus, mainly dried fruit (lemon, grapefruit), hay and a spicy note. Would be better if some of the fruity exuberance of youth were still apparent.

2018 New Year Holiday in Marlborough / Nelson; 12/31/2017-1/5/2018 (Blenheim / Nelson): Yellow, amber hue. Amazing 12-year-old Marlborough SB! Fresh acidity, lemon, tropical, with some honeysuckle and minerals. different characters from its youth, not too long, but unbelievable solid structure!
Ap 5/5, Ar 12/15, Palate 16/20, Overall 3+4/10
Total 90/100
