  • My last bottle of ‘97 reluctantly consumed. Gently fading amber elegance - almost ethereal. Never a robust wine but now a silky seamless soft palate of musky almonds and cherry. But Grand Cru pedigree revealed in a long savoury finish, suggesting it could linger for a few more years.

  • From magnum.Gorgeous, complex nose displaying a compelling mix of faded rose petals, strawberry, smoky aromas, earthy notes and spices. On the palate this is a wine of silky texture, fineness of structure, lushness of fruit.Good acidity, and an intensity that drives through the long finish.A hedonistic and very satisfying Clos de Tart.

  • Popped and poured. Rusty ruby color. Fragrant and densely pungent nose of red berry, holly, violets, and earthy forest floor, gentle at first then slowly building through the evening. Layers of tensile mulberry and red raspberry fruit on the palate, cut with iron particles, brier, iodine, and hints of integrated oak in the background. Lots of complexity with the pure fruit somehow coursing on top. Freshening acidity and smoothed tannin providing settled balance. Longer finish of satisfying grip surrounding waves of stony red fruit. Very enjoyable wine this evening.

  • Casual Burg Dinner with Three Tarts and Friends (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Lush black fruit aromas with slightly sweet spice come across as ripe, but enticing. Flavors are more simply ripe and less exciting, seeming somewhat roasted to me. Good now, but I wouldn't see any upside from here.

  • Pristine cork, popped and poured. Medium ruby hue. Piercing nose of sharp black cherry, anise, pine forest, violets, flint, and fecund earth. Medium-bodied with a core of crisply-defined dark berry fruit chiming in with bell-like clarity amidst iron filings and limestone rock. Ample acidity and settled, integrated tannins in a balanced array, leading to a long finish of mulberry fruit, soft grip, and sweet earth. Lovely balance, lovely wine.
