  • Second note on this wine and very similar to prior tasting note. Enjoyed this wine back in July and was able to pick up a couple more bottles at auction. Low neck level/cork removed intact via Durand/cork about 10% saturated with no apparent seepage. Great aroma of dark fruit/violets noted upon cork removal. Double decanted for sediment. Allowed an hour before first glass. Ruby/garnet color - no bricking noted. Nose of dark fruits in balance with secondary/tertiary notes predominantly of leather, tobacco, dried herbs. Palate echoed flavors noted on the nose leading into a mildly tannic drying finish on the palate and mouth. Nice silky mouthfeel with medium length finish. Beautiful and very enjoyable mature Californian cabernet.

  • PnP with minimal decant and enjoyed by several tasters. Everyone agreed this is still good but its about 3 minutes past midnight.

Slight bricking in the glass and the tertiary flavors are starting to emerge crowding out the fruits a touch. Soft tannin and lush mouth feel so its quite nice to sip. I have 1 more bottle and will enjoy it in the next few months.

What a great ride for this Cinq Cepages, delivering for 26 years!

  • A bit of a surprise. While this wine did receive WOY accolades from WS,I was not expecting this wine to necessarily be in great shape at this point in time - Wrong! This wine is an excellent mature Californian Cabernet. Cork removed intact, saturated to about 20% length, but no apparent seepage beyond. Garnet color without bricking in glass. At its current age, dark fruit was still dominant on nose (black cherry /cassis) and palate but also with wonderful secondary/tertiary notes of spice, dried herbs, leather, and tobacco. Beautiful complex nose. Silky smooth with a moderate length finish. Some soft tannins noted on finish. , Awesome balance with the length of the fruit, secondary/tertiary notes, and the current tannin level. Looking at the $34.99 price tag still on bottle with a smile!
