In a great place. Rich sweet black cherry fruit with black spices dominate the nose. Ripe, yet balanced well endowed fruit forward palate is truly both dense and vibrant. Full of spice, black berry, and classic hints of animal that creates complexly and depth. This was a real crowd please tonight!
Continues to drink very well. That being said this bottle reflects that as this wine moves down the maturity curve its abundant fruit is being replaced by some additional complexity, it will be interesting to see this wine rebalances at the next point on the curve.
PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs -nearly opaque dark red, minimal bricking -somewhat restrained with plum garrigue mature earthy elements -med acidity, med/med- weight still some dark fruits mixed in with mature elements, texturally pretty, some chalky tannins (amplified by a bit of sediment) appear on long finish -lovely CdP in early maturity with easily another 5 good years ahead of it
Opened by Scotty at Simo. Second time I've had this wine in the last two years, and this was much worse than the prior bottle. Still a good wine, but not enough cherry, game and pepper I discerned in the previous bottle, and too much stewed tomatoes for my tastes.
